Japan Travel Guide: Niijima Tokyo Tropical Island! ????? ???

Japan Travel Guide Series! ?? Short random Tokyo Clips Here!! www.youtube.com ?? ???????????????????? ????????????????????????? Other week I read the Metropolis Magazine’s article on Niijima so I decided to go. It was a very beautiful and strange experience. This Island is located about 3hrs from Tokyo by a fast ferry. (The slower one takes 6 hrs!) They have an amazing surf beach. It is technically part of the Tokyo Prefecture. I found the overall business mentality to be a bit odd. For example they don’t rent surf boards at the “Surf Station” by the beach. Surf board rentals are expensive, 4000 yen for short, 5000 yen for long board for about 5 hours. To spend the night it costs about 5000 yen. But to rent a car it’s 8000 yen for 6 hours. But they have a free outdoor Onsen/Hot Spring! And they have an internationally renowned Glass Art Museum. (I know, because I went there to use the toilet!) Anyways, if you want to go to Niijima, here’s the link to the place we stayed and ferry information. i dont know how it is for japans kakigori but slush ice comes from italy.its called “granita” a tipically dish in sicilly.if i remember well its known since the middle age like the normal ice cream.first flavour were lime and orange.now you can buy it in many different flavours.
i love it. you can add some vodka to that and you have a simple, but very nice tasting, cold cocktail :D . but dont drink to much of them on the beach….

Kakigori(or however you spell it) is called slush in europe/USA or whatever :D , i always drink(or eat, haha) it on the summer!

  17. EmirioDesu March 29 2010 @ 10:01 am

@klacker47 Its not expensive for foreigners but if you live and work there, thats a different thing. The only real thing thats expensive is the flight there (and if you get a hotel)

Such a nice video. That gets me to realize again that Japan has the amazing nature and islands which deserve pride for us. According to a information, there are as many as 6,852 islands in Japan. Wow !! I guess that most of them are not familiar to me. I’ve got to learn about the whole things about Japan

Um, dude? Those are subtitles. The English is translated into Japanese. If you understand the English then you don’t need to be reading them. If you don’t like seeing Japanese, then you don’t need to be watching a travel video for a Japanese island.
